How to add a table of contents to a Wix blog post
You have a long post and want a list of its headings at the top that readers can click. Wix Blog does not show one on its own. Here is what Wix says, how to build one by hand with anchors, and where that gets tiring.

Short answer
- Not built in. Wix’s feature request article says it is currently not possible to add a table of contents to help structure large blog posts [1].
- Anchors work by hand. Wix’s anchor article says you can also use anchors to create a table of contents [2].
- The cost is upkeep. Each entry is a link you make and check yourself.
Build one with anchors
The steps below follow Wix’s anchor article [2]. Write your entries as a list of lines at the top of the post, then turn each line into a link:
- Open your blog from the site dashboard, then create a new post or edit an existing one.
- Highlight the text you want to use as the link, for example one line of your list.
- Click the Link icon on the toolbar.
- Select Section, then choose the section the link should jump to.
- Click Save. Repeat for each line.
To remove a link, click the linked text and use the Unlink icon [2]. Publish the post and click each entry once to check where it lands.
Where it gets hard
The article does not say how the links behave on mobile, or whether the steps differ between the composer and the editor, so test on a phone yourself. Beyond that, the problems are practical:
- The list is typed by hand. Rename or add a heading and the list does not change; you edit the line and check its link again.
- Every post needs the same work, so a blog with many long posts repeats it each time.
- The list sits inside the post as ordinary text, so it looks like the rest of your content rather than a separate box.
For a handful of posts this is fine. For a blog that publishes long guides often, it is the part people tend to skip.
A list that builds itself
If you would rather not maintain it, the Wix app Table of Contents by Hullspark (ours) builds the list from each post’s headings and places it at the top of the post page. It shows on posts with two or more headings, and tapping an entry jumps to that heading. You can choose the depth (h2 only, h2 to h3, or h2 to h4), a title and numbering. On a phone it starts closed and opens when tapped. It covers blog post pages only and reads a post’s headings, not readers or comments. The free plan shows the standard blue card; Pro adds styles, colours, a panel that follows the reader, and per-post control with a hashtag.
Questions
Does Wix Blog have a built-in table of contents?
No. Wix’s feature request article says it is currently not possible to add a table of contents to help structure large blog posts.
Can I make a table of contents by hand in Wix Blog?
Yes, with anchors. Wix’s anchor article says you can also use anchors to create a table of contents: you highlight text, click the Link icon, select Section and choose the target section.
Does the table of contents update when I rename a heading?
Not by hand. Each link you made is separate, so after a heading changes you check its link yourself. The app described above rebuilds the list from the headings.
Does the app work outside blog posts?
No. It covers Wix Blog post pages only, and shows a table of contents on posts with two or more headings.
