Does Wix Stores keep a history of product price and stock changes?

You changed a price last month, or stock moved and you cannot tell when. Wix shows the current numbers, so you look for a log of the old ones. Here is what Wix says about it, what the built-in report covers, and how to keep your own record.

Short answer

  • No per-product log. Wix’s feature request article says Wix Stores currently can’t track a product’s history, such as changes to its inventory level or price [1].
  • One report comes close. The Inventory over Time report in Wix Analytics tracks changes in inventory over a time period, and how the total value of your inventory changes [2].
  • The rest is your own record. Export the product list on a schedule and keep the dated files [3].

The Inventory over Time report

Wix describes it as a report on changes in inventory over a certain time period [2]. To open it:

  1. Open your site’s dashboard and click Go to All Reports.
  2. Open the Stores section.
  3. Select Inventory over Time.
  4. Use the Select a measure dropdown to switch between total value and inventory counts. [2]

Going by Wix’s description, it covers inventory, not product prices, and it is a report for the store rather than a list of edits per product. The article does not say who made a change. Wix says you can export any report; it does not name the file formats [2].

Keep your own record

Wix’s article says you can export your store products, with all their data, to a CSV file. In the Products tab you choose which products to include, then use More Actions and Export. One file holds up to 5,000 rows, and digital products can’t be exported [3].

  1. Export the product list on a fixed day, for example the first of each month.
  2. Save each file with its date in the name, and open it once to check that the price and inventory columns you care about are in it.
  3. When you need to know what a price was, open the file closest to that date. To see what changed between two dates, put the two files side by side in a spreadsheet and compare the rows.

This gives you snapshots, not a log. A price that changed twice between two exports shows only its last value, and the file does not say who changed it or when. If you edit prices in bulk, exporting just before and just after gives you a clean before-and-after pair.

A record that runs by itself

If you would rather not export by hand, the Wix app Price & Stock History (ours) records the price, compare-at price and stock of every product and variant from the moment it is installed. For each change it shows the old and new number and the time, and who made it when Wix says so (a Wix user, an order or another app). It does not read customers, orders or payments, and it cannot show changes made before you installed it. The free plan shows the last 30 days and 20 products; Pro adds history beyond 30 days, all products, CSV export and flags for big moves.

Questions

Does Wix keep a history of my product prices?

Not that Wix documents. Its feature request article says Wix Stores currently can’t track a product’s history, such as changes to its inventory level or price.

Can I see how my stock changed over time in Wix?

In part. Wix Analytics has an Inventory over Time report that tracks changes in inventory over a time period and how the total value of your inventory changes. It is a store-level report, not a log of each product’s edits.

Can I see who changed a price?

Not in the Wix articles listed on this page. The app described above records who made a change when Wix says so: a Wix user, an order, or another app.

Will the app show changes made before I installed it?

No. It records changes from the moment it is installed. Its Check now button compares the store with the last numbers it has seen, so it can pick up a change that no event reported, but it cannot recover earlier prices.
