How to create many Wix Bookings services from a CSV

You are moving a price list into Wix Bookings, or opening a second site with the same menu of services, and typing each one into the dashboard would take days. Wix has no import for services. Here is what Wix says, and how a spreadsheet import works with an app.

Short answer

  • Wix: no import. Wix’s request article says it is currently not possible to export or import the configuration of services in Wix Bookings, and that it is collecting votes [1].
  • By hand: create each service in the Bookings dashboard, one after another. That is what owners in Wix’s forum describe [2]. Wix’s multiple-locations article describes duplicating a course: in Booking Services, click More Actions next to the course, then Duplicate [3]. That saves retyping, but it is still one at a time.
  • With an app: Bookings Bulk Editor (ours) reads a CSV, shows what it would create, and creates appointment services when you apply. Creating is Pro.

What owners ask

The Wix forum thread “Import Wix Bookings Services” runs from 2021 to 2024. One owner needed hundreds of services for a launch and found no Import CSV button. Later posters ask for something close: another needs to bring 185 appointments over from another platform, another asks for CSV upload and download of services as Wix offers for products, and another has about 1,700 entries to load. A Wix Bookings staff member answered in 2021 that the feature was not available, and in 2024 that new APIs let code create, update and query services [2]. Code needs a developer; the rest of this page is for owners who do not have one.

Create from a CSV

In Bookings Bulk Editor by Hullspark:

  1. Open the app. It lists your services. On the free plan this list and a CSV of standard columns are free.
  2. Export your services to CSV with all columns, which is Pro. The free CSV has standard columns only and does not include staffResourceIds, rateType, currency or locationType, which a new row needs. Copy an existing appointment row as a pattern: it shows your staff IDs, and its locationType must be CUSTOMER.
  3. In a spreadsheet, add a row for each new service and leave the id cell empty. A row with an empty id is read as a new service.
  4. Import the file. The app shows a table of changes first; a row that cannot be created is shown with the reason.
  5. With Pro, apply. Services are sent in batches of 100, up to 500 in one run, and each row reports whether it worked. Free shows the table but does not write.

The app saves a backup before it writes. Restoring one does not remove services that an import created, so delete those in Bookings if you want them gone.

What each row needs

A category name that does not exist yet stops that row with a message. Columns a new service does not use, such as capacity, are ignored.

A note on duration

The same app can set the duration of many existing services in one run. It does that for appointment services with a single fixed duration. Services where the customer picks the duration are left alone, and the table of changes says so, and it writes one duration per service.

Questions

Can I import a CSV of services into Wix Bookings?

Not with Wix alone. Wix’s request article says it is currently not possible to export or import the configuration of services in Wix Bookings.

Can the app create class or course services?

No. New services made from a CSV are appointment services only, at the customer’s location, with one duration each.

Do I need Pro to create services?

Yes. Creating services from a CSV is a Pro feature. On the free plan the app still lists your services and shows the table of changes, but it does not write anything to Wix. The columns a new row needs (staff, rate type, currency, location) are in the all-columns export, which is also Pro.

What happens to services whose duration the customer picks?

Setting a duration in bulk leaves them alone and says why in the table of changes. The app writes one duration per service.
