How to get low stock alerts in Wix Stores
You sell on Wix Stores and want to know before a product runs out, not after. Here is what Wix does on its own, what it leaves out, and the ways to close the gap.

Short answer
- Wix Stores does not email you when a product runs low. Wix’s own help article says it does not send an email even when a product is out of stock. You do get a notification in your site’s dashboard and in the Wix app on your phone for out of stock [1].
- The “low stock” message that Wix shows appears to shoppers, on the product page, once stock falls below 10 and only for products with tracked inventory [2]. It is not an alert to you.
- The closest built-in tool is the Low Inventory report in Wix Analytics, which lists items expected to run out within 14 days [3]. You have to open it; nothing is sent.
- To be told when stock reaches a number of your choosing, you need an app. Wix’s own help article points to a third-party app for this [1].
What happens when stock drops
What Wix gives you out of the box
| Tool | Tells whom | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Out-of-stock notice | You | A notification in the dashboard and in the Wix app on your phone. No email [1]. |
| Low stock message | Shoppers | Appears on the product page once stock falls below 10. Needs tracked inventory; tick it in the product’s Settings tab [2]. |
| Back-in-stock notification | Shoppers | Lets customers ask for an email when an item is available again [2]. |
| Low Inventory report (Analytics) | You, when you open it | Items expected to run out of stock in the next 14 days; the period can be changed. Wix says reports can be exported [3]. |
| Inventory Planning report (Analytics) | You, when you open it | Shows when items are predicted to run out, so you can plan stock [3]. |
Turn the Wix tools on
- Track the quantity. Open the product and turn on Track inventory quantity, then enter the amount in stock. A sale lowers it automatically, and variants such as sizes are tracked separately [2]. Products set only to “In stock / Out of stock” have no number to compare, so no low state exists for them.
- Tick Low stock message in the product’s Settings tab if you want shoppers to see it [2].
- Open the reports. In your dashboard open All Reports, then Low Inventory in the Stores section [3].
- Fix stock fast. The Inventory page updates up to 300 products or variants at once, and tracked and untracked items cannot be mixed in one batch [4].
Where the built-in tools stop
- There is no “low” message to the owner. The only owner notification Wix describes is for out of stock, and by then the shelf is empty [1].
- The number is Wix’s, not yours. The shopper message is described as appearing below 10; the help article does not describe a way to change that number [2]. A slow seller that you reorder at 3 and a fast one you reorder at 40 get the same rule.
- The report waits for you. The Low Inventory report is a page you open. Wix’s article does not mention sending or scheduling reports [3].
- One report for everything. Reports show products, not who orders them from whom. For a supplier-by-supplier order, see how to build a reorder list.
Your options
| Option | Does a message reach you? | Cost and effort | Good when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Open the Low Inventory report on a schedule | No. You go and look | Free. One calendar reminder | A small catalog and a weekly stock check |
| An alert app that emails you | Yes, by email | Check the free plan, the price and the reviews on its listing | You live in your inbox |
| An alert app that uses the dashboard bell and Wix app notifications | Yes, in the dashboard and the Wix app | Check the same things | You use the Wix app daily |
| Check your own sheet | No | Export products, filter by inventory (see the reorder guide) | You want your own reorder rules |
Whichever app you pick, check four things on its listing: whether it lets you set a number per product and per variant, where the alert goes (email, dashboard, phone), what the free plan limits, and what store data it reads.
One option: our own app
I make a Wix app for this, Low Stock Alert by Hullspark Apps (App Market listing) [5]. It does not send email. It puts alerts in the dashboard bell and sends Wix app notifications. How it works, as far as I have checked in the code and on the listing:
- One number for every product, or your own number for one. The first screen says “Start watching at N” to set a store-wide number. A product or a single variant (a size or a color) can have its own.
- It compares on every stock change and tells you when a product is out of stock or low. A “back above the threshold” line goes only to the dashboard bell.
- A morning summary at 8:00 AM, sent only when something is low or out of stock.
- An order note by supplier, with a “restock to” number if you set one, that you can copy or save as a CSV (see the reorder list guide).
- Free plan: notifications for any number of products, the order note and the daily summary. Pro is $2.99 a month with a 14-day free trial (the listing shows your own currency) and adds thresholds by category, weekly and monthly summaries, and a choice of summary time.
- It reads only products, categories and stock. It does not read customer or order data [5].

Questions
Does Wix send an email when a product is low on stock?
No. Wix’s help article says Wix Stores does not send an email notification when a product is out of stock; you get a dashboard and Wix app notification for out of stock, and it points to a third-party app for low stock alerts.
Why don’t I see the “low stock” message on my product page?
It needs tracked inventory (a number, not just In Stock / Out of Stock), the Low stock message box ticked in the product’s Settings tab, and a stock level below 10.
Can I get an alert for one size or color only?
Wix tracks variants separately, so the stock is separate. Wix does not alert you on it. An app that watches variants can; check the listing before you install it.
Does the app email me?
No. It uses the dashboard bell and Wix app notifications, plus a morning summary in the same two places. If you need email, choose an app that says so on its listing.
Is the app free?
The Basic plan is free, with notifications for any number of products, the order note and the daily 8:00 AM summary. Pro is $2.99 a month with a 14-day free trial.
What I have not verified
I checked the Wix claims on this page against Wix’s own Help Center articles on 2026-10-18. I did not re-test every one of them on a live store, and Wix can change how its features work.
Delivery to the dashboard bell and to a phone was confirmed on a real store (a test notification arrived on both); which Wix notifications your own phone shows still follows your Wix notification settings. I have confirmed the app on a Catalog V3 store; it also listens for Catalog V1 stock events, but I have not confirmed V1 on a live store. I have not tested other vendors’ apps and name none; their features and prices change, so read their listings.
