How to find and replace text in Wix product SEO titles and descriptions

A brand is renamed, a word turns out to be wrong, or a slogan has to go. The old text sits in the search-result title and description of dozens of products. Here is what Wix’s own settings can do about it, and where you have to go one product at a time.

Listing on the Wix App Market

Short answer

  • Wix has no find and replace for product SEO text. Bulk SEO updates for products are listed as a feature request *2. The help article on updating many products lists actions such as visibility, price, ribbons, brands, weight, categories and info sections, and does not list SEO titles or descriptions *1.
  • A CSV does not help. Wix’s help center says SEO settings for multiple products cannot be updated by downloading and uploading a CSV *2.
  • If the old word is only in the shared default, change it once in SEO Settings, and every product that uses the default follows *3. A title or description written on a product overrides the default *8.
  • To find the products that still contain the old word, use Edit by Page (SEO Settings, Products): a table of every product’s title tag and meta description, with a search bar *9. Each product is still edited on its own: you open its SEO settings, change the text and save *4.
  • For that last case, the app below replaces the text on all the products you tick in one run, after a preview, and you can undo it. Find and replace works on the free plan; free writes up to 20 products per run, and Pro has no per-run limit.

Wix lists bulk SEO updates for products as a feature request and is collecting votes *2. Two forum threads are nearby asks. In 2019 a store owner asked how to search every product description for a word and replace it (that is the product description, not the SEO text); the only reply was a link to Wix’s request page for more bulk edits *5. In 2025 an owner wanted to change the SEO title, meta description and keyword of about 1,850 products through code and got a FORBIDDEN error; a reply says updating a product’s SEO data from the backend is currently not possible *6. That reply is a forum member’s word, not Wix’s documentation.

1. If the word is in the default

In your dashboard open SEO & GEO, scroll to Tools and settings, choose SEO Settings, then Products (it appears with Wix Stores) *10. The default title and description for product pages can use variables such as Product Name and Product Brand, and one change there applies to the whole section *3. If your old word is typed as plain text into that default, replace it there and save. This takes a minute and needs no app.

This reaches products that use the default. Once a title or description is written on a product, that value overrides the default *8, so a default change does not touch it.

2. If it comes from the brand

If the old name is the brand, edit the brand once: in the products list choose More Actions, then Edit Brand, enter the new text and confirm. Wix updates all products the brand name is applied to *1. Text typed into a product’s SEO fields is separate from the brand field.

3. If it was typed on each product

For text written into a product’s own SEO settings, start with Edit by Page (SEO Settings, Products). It is a table of each product’s name, URL, title tag and meta description, and its search bar queries any column, so searching for the old word lists the products that still contain it *9. Each row is still edited on its own: the row menu opens that product’s SEO panel, where you change the title tag and meta description and save *4. With three products that is fine. With sixty it is an afternoon of opening, editing and saving.

Replace it in one run

Disclosure: we make Product SEO Bulk Editor, a Wix app. Its Text operations card changes the title and description that are set now:

  1. Choose Find & replace, and pick Title, Description or Both.
  2. Type the text to find and what should take its place. Leave the second box empty to remove the text (a field that would become empty keeps its current value).
  3. Read the count of products that will change and the before-and-after of the first rows. Nothing is written yet.
  4. Tick the products you want, then apply.

It looks for exactly the text you type, not a pattern, and ignores upper and lower case unless you tick Match case. It changes the text saved on the product, so a product with no title or description of its own is left as it is. Products someone else edited after the page loaded are skipped, not overwritten. Each run is recorded in this browser (the last 10 runs) and can be undone from the history, or from an undo file you saved, which also works from another browser. The screen is in English and Japanese. A text operation changes only the title and description; customer and order data are not read.

On the free plan you can write up to 20 products per run and run as many times as you like. Pro has no per-run limit. Nothing here promises higher rankings, and search engines show the new text only after their next crawl *7.

This page and the app are not affiliated with Wix; Wix screen names can change.

No. Bulk SEO updates for products are a feature request. Wix’s Edit by Page table lists every product’s title tag and meta description and can be searched, but each product is edited on its own.

Can I fix it with a CSV?

No. Wix’s help center says SEO settings for multiple products cannot be updated by downloading and uploading a CSV.

Is the app’s find and replace a pattern search?

No. It looks for exactly the text you type. It ignores upper and lower case unless you tick Match case.

Does it need Pro?

Find and replace works on the free plan. Free writes up to 20 products per run, with no limit on the number of runs; Pro has no per-run limit.

Can I undo a replace?
