How to print packing slips with product photos and barcodes in Wix

A packing slip with a small photo of each product and a barcode you can scan makes packing faster and wrong items easier to catch. Here is what Wix prints by itself, and where an app adds the photos and barcodes.

Short answer

  • Wix prints a packing slip from inside an order. Open Orders, select an order, click the More Actions icon and choose Print packing slip [1].
  • Wix’s help article lists what the slip shows: the order number, shipping and billing addresses, the products purchased and your store policies. It does not mention product photos or barcodes [1]. Wix says the printable order page cannot be customized [2].
  • The app “Packing Slips and Pick Lists” (Pro) adds a product photo and a Code 128 barcode of the SKU to each line, plus your shop name and a thank-you note. It makes the slips for every order you tick, as one PDF.

What Wix prints on its own

  1. One slip per order. Select an order, click More Actions, choose Print packing slip, then print [1]. It is not available for dropshipping or digital orders [1].
  2. The Print Orders button prints the orders you ticked on the Orders tab [1]. Wix’s help does not say what the printout contains, and users report that it has changed over time, so print one and look.
  3. A CSV export. It is a table, not a slip, and has no pictures [3].

If the Wix slip is enough for you, use it. It costs nothing and needs no install. Menu names change, so check them in your own dashboard.

Adding photos and barcodes with the app

Packing Slips and Pick Lists (earlier called Picking & Packing List) adds a page to your Wix dashboard. You tick the orders waiting to ship, and it makes a combined pick list and a packing slip for each order, as A4 PDF or CSV.

  1. Choose the orders and go to the output step.
  2. Find the “Photos and barcodes” box. It has two checkboxes, “Print product photos” and “Print SKU barcodes”. Both are on by default and print with Pro.
  3. Optional: fill in “Your shop name and a thank-you note” (Pro). The shop name goes at the top of the slips and the note under each order, so you can cut the cards apart and put one in each parcel.
  4. Make the PDF. Each line has its photo and a barcode of the SKU.

Photos come from the image on the order line itself. The barcode is Code 128, made in the page from the SKU text. On the free plan you can see the look on the sample orders. The app only reads your orders and does not change them. Order data is used in your browser and is not stored or sent anywhere.

What it cannot do

Questions

Can a Wix packing slip show product photos?

Wix's help article lists the order number, shipping and billing addresses, the products purchased and your store policies. It does not mention product photos. The app prints a photo on each line with Pro.

Can a Wix packing slip show barcodes?

The Wix help article does not mention barcodes. The app prints a Code 128 barcode of the SKU on each line with Pro, on the pick list and on the packing slips.

Which barcode format does the app use?

Code 128. It is made in the page from the SKU text, with no network call.

Which SKUs cannot be turned into a barcode?

A SKU that is empty, longer than 24 characters, or that has a character outside printable ASCII (for example Japanese or accented letters, or a tab). That line gets no barcode and the rest of the slip prints as usual.

Where do the product photos come from?

From the image on the order line itself, so no extra call to Wix is made. If a photo cannot be loaded, that line gets an empty frame.

Do photos and barcodes cost extra?

They are part of Pro. On the free plan they print on the sample orders only, so you can see the look. The price is on the Wix App Market listing.

Can I put my shop name and a thank-you note on the slip?

Yes, with Pro. The shop name goes at the top of each packing slip and the note under each order. Both are saved in your browser only.

Does the app change my orders?

No. It only reads orders and does not mark anything as shipped.
